OUR VISION
Affordable Reliable Green
Safe Secure Sustainable
electricity for all
THE COMPANY
WHAT WE DO
Fusion Reactors is developing a fusion reactor to deliver electricity to the grid from fusion energy.
We intend to do this by the end of 2032.
Visit our blog for more on how we see fusion development.
OUR VALUES
Fairness: We will endeavour to provide affordable and clean electricity, with the same passion, in all parts of the world, regardless of wealth and circumstance.
Inclusivity: We will welcome and deal with all with equal respect, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation. We will do this with everyone: employees, customers, suppliers, competitors.
Sustainability: We care about the environment and we feel that we need to minimise our impact on it. We believe in sustainable practice in every possible dimension, from the behaviour of our people to our final product.
Honesty: We care about the truth, transparency and following both the spirit and the letter of the rules.
OUR BELIEFS
We believe that the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals are underpinned by access to clean energy.
We believe that as a technology company we have a responsibility to deliver affordable and clean energy to all.
We want to see energy poverty eliminated and we want to do so safely and sustainably.
THE PROBLEM
DUAL CHALLENGE
Climate change and energy demand are the defining challenges of our time. We currently do not have a solution for these challenges; this includes renewables. We'd like you to help us build and deploy the right solution, fusion energy.
CLIMATE CHANGE
We are causing climate change.
The overwhelming consensus is that humans are causing changes to the environment at an unprecedented rate. We are bringing many species, and potentially ourselves, to the brink of extinction. We are causing Climate Change because we are burning fossil fuels to meet our energy needs.
ENERGY NEED
Reducing the world energy consumption is not the solution.
Low access to energy and electricity lead to an increase in child mortality, a lowering of life expectancy and a lowering of the quality of life. How much energy we use has a direct effect on our quality of life. Low access to energy and electricity lead to the trap of poverty. We cannot solve Climate Change by reducing our energy consumption!
FUSION
FUSION
Fusion energy is the energy released when light nuclei fuse (join) together.
It is the holy grail of power generation because it is safe, green and sustainable.
FUSION - PUBLIC SECTOR
The majority of state-funded fusion research is in support of ITER, the $20B+ international fusion experiment being built in France. While ITER is important, the ITER route to fusion is too slow and not expected to deliver electricity to the grid before the middle of the century at the earliest.
Other state-funded projects are similarly slow.
FUSION - PRIVATE SECTOR
Approximately 40 private companies globally are racing to achieve commercial fusion for electricity.
Investment into the private sector is increasing rapidly as more investors begin to realise that fusion is now on the verge of commercialisation.
OUR APPROACH
Paradigm Shift
"Fusion is too important for just one shot on goal. Just like when you’re developing pharmaceuticals, it’s good that people are trying different approaches." Dr. M. Greenwald.
This is the seminal change introduced to fusion in the last 20 years by the private sector, namely that more designs are being looked at.
Fusion Reactors is taking this one step further, by looking at multiple designs.
Fusion Reactors
With experience both in the state sector (JET - the premier fusion experiment of the world) and the private sector, Fusion Reactors has the knowledge and experience to design, build, run and evolve multiple fusion reactor designs.
We will rapidly converge to the optimal fusion reactor design to deliver fusion electricity in time to make a difference.
Our blog has more on our views on fusion development.
